This time of year is one of the best times to explore Tarrytown, NY. Halloween is a very special time in the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow area. Washington Irving's story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is set in and around Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow which use to be called North Tarrytown. You may have heard of the Headless Horseman who is a fictional character from that short story. For all activities and celebrations check out the Chamber of Commerce website or the Village of Tarrytown Recreation Department.
The Tarrytown Halloween Parade is one of my favorite events. It will be held Saturday Oct. 27 from 5:30-6:30 and is organized and sponsored by the Village of Tarrytown Recreation Department. It begins at Patriot's Park and ends on Main Street in Tarrytown with a block party.
Tarrytown is also know for it's beautiful waterfront location with it's own Metro North Train station for an easy commute along the Hudson River from Manhattan, leave from Grand Central Station and you can be in Tarrytown in less than 40 minutes. Make it a day, you can enjoy the festivities of the season, maybe catch a show at the Tarrytown Music Hall and have dinner at the River Market Bar & Kitchen.
Also Tarrytown is a great place to live, check out both of these area homes:
