Fall is a perfect time to brush up on some old recipes. And a chef's kitchen is the most appropriate place to start! Join me at 8 Leafwood Terrace in Irvington for a simple Apple Pie.
Easy Apple Pie
Prepare a pie plate with a ready to go Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust
5-7 tart apples peeled and sliced ( I usually use Granny Smith Apples)
To that add:
- 3/4 to 1 Cup of Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons of Flour
- Dash of Salt
- 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
- 1/4 Teaspoon of Nutmeg
Squeeze of Lemon Juice (Optional)
Mix to coat the sliced apples
Fill the bottom pie crust with the apple mixture and top with 2 Tablespoons of Butter sliced into 3-4 pieces
Attach top crust and crimp the edges, slice steam vents in the top of the pie, brush top crust with egg wash and sprinkle the top crust with cinnamon and sugar (approximately a teaspoon of sugar and half a teaspoon of cinnamon mixed together)
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 50 minutes. Enjoy!
