This question often comes up with people moving into the area. Your post office address is Irvington and your school system is Irvington but it is not part of the Village of Irvington so you do not pay Village taxes. The Town of Greenburgh takes care of your trash and community services.
I recently listed a home at 20 Willow Lane, Irvington which is considered part of in East Irvington, part of the unincorporated Town of Greenburgh. The benefits of this area are lower taxes, (you don’t pay the Village tax), access to the Town of Greenburgh pools and recreational facilities and which you would not have access to if you were part of the Village of Irvington. Irvington doesn’t have a town pool.
There are also great expanses of green space for you enjoyment within walking distance like the East Irvington Nature Preserve. It is a great place to hike and it’s just off Taxter Road and steps from 20 Willow Lane. Down the road there is the Taxter Ridge Park Preserve, considered the “Gateway to Westchester” with over 200 acres of preserved open space. Below are a couple of links that give you a sense of the area and trails.
